Dark of the Moon

I couldn't review it any better than this: http://www.widescreenwarrior.com/secondlook/transformers-dark-moon-3d-review-3327

I AM NUMBER FOUR

Finally got a chance to watch "I AM NUMBER FOUR" yesterday. This was one of the few movies that I didn't watch a single trailer for and I must say it was pretty good. I had no idea what to expect at all. The story was very familiar to me. Basically, it's about an outsider moving from town to town trying to stay hidden from a threat that he is not ready to face. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and hope that a sequel does happen.

Green Lantern 3D

Don't worry, no spoilers here... Midnight was the release of Green Lantern and since Legend3D actually did about 3 to 4 minutes of conversion on this film we had a private screening at Ultrastar in Mission Valley. It was great for Legend3D to arrange this for us. I must say that this theater is not the greatest though. The theater was tiny, has non-stadium seating and is very uncomfortable. At least the screen was in good shape, picture quality and brightness of the projector were pretty good. This definitely helped with the presentation of the movie even though I had to look around someone's large head. Presentation... was pretty much all of what this movie had. Overall Green Lantern did not live up to any of the hype. Definitely had all of the cheese I was expecting from any other movie that Ryan Reynolds is in. I do enjoy a lot of his movies but, majority of those are comedy driven. This was supposed to be a sci-fi action adventure hero flick or, something like tha...

E3 and Ghost Recon Future Soldier

E3 2011 was huge. Almost back to it's roots where there were huge crowds, long lines, and tons of booths containing booth babes (G4's booth babes being the best). My focus for this year was to try to play or at least see the following games; Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Forza Motorsport 4, and the long awaited Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Unfortunately because of the long lines I was only able to play Forza and Future Soldier. Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a big deal for me because the original Ghost Recon is what got me hooked to Xbox Live and Xbox in general. Also, Ghost Recon Future Soldier was demoed at last years E3 and it wasn't looking so great. A lot of the original elements were gone from the series. Fortunately, Ubi Soft saw the reactions they were getting at E3 2010 and decided to return the series to its roots with bringing back the original developer Red Storm. With Red Storm returning to the franchise most of the elements that made Ghos...

I don't post enough...

But, today I've decided that that is going to change. I will put forth the effort to post at least once a week if not every day. Preferably, something like video game reviews, movie reviews, product reviews, etc... I will also post some photos or paintings in order to get back into things. We'll see how this goes.

Killed my website

Well, I finally did it. I killed my website. I wasn't ever going to use it. I guess... But I can just use this in stead to show my portfolio and what not for anyone to see. Especially when it's free!

Excited

I finally am employed again. I was recruited by Omation Animation Studio today as a production assistant. I'm so psyched that I got the spot. When I got the phone call last Tuesday and was asked to come in for an interview I was jumping up and down saying, "Finally!" I finally got the opportunity to get in to the industry I had studied for. During the interview I felt very confident that I had the job nailed but after the interview I wasn't sure. I was worried and freaked out that some how I messed up, whether I said the wrong thing didn't make a good impression something? After everything was said and done they told me that they would be making a decision by the end of the week. Friday arrives and goes by pretty fast so I thought all was lost. Then the unthinkable happened, my brother got burned again because the lawnmower blew and burned his arm. This all happened while my parents were in Arizona visiting Chris my older brother for his birthday. So my...

Still Painting

Image
Okay that painting I was working became a train wreck so I choped, cut and rebuilt it into something smaller and I think it's working better.

First painting in a long time

Image
During this time of having no job I have just started to paint again and it's amazing how things start to come back after not painting for so long. I'm also doing some painting to put some stuff together for a portfolio so I can land that dream job some day. I just started this one and it's not even close to being completed so it may turn out different then what I have outlined so far. Critiques always welcome of course.

The Job Hunt

Well the job hunt hasn't been going to well. I've been applying to about 4 to 5 jobs a day and unfortunately no one has sent me any emails or phone calls. Maybe I need to jazz up my resume some more or something. I may post my resume on here to see if anyone could make some recommendations or even for some prospects. What you think I should do?

I'm Sick

So I have come down with a mild cold. It started on Saturday with a post nasal drip and now has worked its way up to a full blown cold. It really sucks cause there were a lot of things I wanted to do this week but now will have to wait. Oh well I guess. Also this weekend was Craig and Courtney's wedding. It turned out to be a great day with lots of sun and no rain. Unfortunately it was not the greatest wedding because no one was dancing the entire time. I was getting a little bored. However watching the groom get really drunk was kind of funny especially since the bride was upset about it. I'll try to get some pictures for you guys later.

Phone Interview

Had a phone interview today with Walsworth Publishing. They work with school to publish year books through an online resource. The job sounded pretty cool so far because I would get to work from home. My schedule would be something like a teachers so I would have two months off during the summer. From what I understood the pay is pretty good also, you get paid from a commission . So you get paid weekly from a base salary commission and then if you sell extra you get paid more. A little confusing right? I thought so. However the only part I don't like is that I would be calling schools directly and trying to make sales with them. Though the fun part would be going to the schools and talking to the teachers and students. If you want to check out their website it's: http://www.walsworthyearbooks.com/

Waiting

I'm waiting for some call backs or emails back from several jobs that I have applied for. I have mostly applied at Kaiser Permanente because my friend Russ works there. From what he tells me it sounds like a great place to work. Great job security and great benefits. I have also applied for jobs at Microsoft , HP, and a couple of studios like Nickelodeon. Another thing that I don't usually do but I have been is praying. Well if you know me then you know that is different for me. I hope that my prayers are answered or at least heard because I can not lose Lisa. She is my best friend and means everything to me. I have to find a job.

Hmmm...

So I'm sitting here at my computer talking with a few good friends of mine wondering where my life is going. Thinking about going back to school, a career at Best Buy, or... Well I don't know yet. I have quite a few hours before I have to go to work tomorrow so I think I am going to actually work on something while listening to some bad ass soundtracks. I'm also going to finish "Goblet of Fire" tonight. I have been getting a lot of cool ideas for illustrations from that book but I know I should try to do something original right. So we'll see what happens. Therefore right now I'm going to go finish my laundry and play some "Mass Effect" while I wait. By the way once I finish "Mass Effect" I will give you the low down on why this is one of the must haves for the Xbox 360 along with "Call of Duty 4." All of you who think the PS3 is better along with blowsray need to start realizing the truth. You screwed up and bough...

Halo 3

Image
To begin with I was never a huge Halo fan. I thought it looked like crap, didn't play well and was quite boring. I also felt there were some much better games out there such as Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. Which to this day I still feel that those are the better games compared to the first Halo. Then Halo 2 came out... I was impressed with the graphics for sure cause it was a huge leap from the first game. Still the same game though but I definitely enjoyed. Also the big bonus was an actual online mode so you could play on Xbox Live with anyone in the world. But at the time I was still into Ghost Recon 2 and was still playing Rainbow Six. Ghost Recon 2 had made leaps and bounds as far as graphically and game play. So I was definitely hooked into that. Halo 3 is launched. I've been waiting for this game to come out and like I said earlier I'm not a huge fan of Halo but this one is good. Way better than the last two and with some new features such as the ability to share ...

Too Damn Busy

Too damn busy man. It seems like I work all the damn time so I have no time for anything else. On top of that I close everyday except for on Saturday. Work is alright though. At least the discount and the benefits are pretty damn good. On a good note Lisa got a job at a hospital in Pasadena making some good money. She's very happy that she doesn't have to work at Rainforest any more cause she was doing all the work instead of her supervisor helping like she is supposed too. Her drive shouldn't be too long now which is a good thing cause today it took her almost two hours to drive home form Costa Mesa. That's ridiculous! Stupid traffic. Well I just finished my gaming time with Russ so I'm going to go to bed shortly. I have all day tomorrow and Thursday off so I will definitely get something up soon. I did enter into the cgtalk challenge so I'll most likely be working on something for that. Aight .

Vacation

So for the last few days I've been up North spending some time with my friends Russ and Meghan. They live in Pleasanton , CA which is about 45 mins from San Francisco. On Monday we Russ and I went to San Pedro lake which was a lot of fun until my knee got tore up when I was tossed of a tube at about 30 to 35 MPH. It's pretty crazy when you can fell your self skipping across the water just like throwing a rock. So I leave in the morning or noonish and I'm thinking about taking the scenic route which may tack on some more time but we'll see. Anyways when I get home I'll try to whip up some work for everyone to see.

This Year's Blockbuster!!!

Image
On Tuesday I was able to hop over to Cinema City Theaters to see "Transformers." Let me first talk about how excellent this theater is. The first time I was there was in 1989 to see Batman. I wasn't living in California at the time just visiting for the summer and that was the last and only time I had been to this Cinema City Theaters. Until now! I was dying to go see "Live Free or Die Hard." I was so hyped up about this movie that I wasn't going to see this movie any other way other than DLP . So I want on the Internet , did a search for DLP theaters and Cinema City came up. I didn't recognize the location online (Anaheim, CA off of La Palma ) but once I got to the theater I definitely recognized it then. I remembered my mom driving us all over to find this theater to see "Batman" when we were on vacation. Considering how old the theater was I was skeptical about the quality of the theater especially since the ticket prices were cheap! 4 bu...
